ARTYARD NEW LOCATION; 13 FRONT ST, FRENCHTOWN, NJ
ARTYARD FRENCHTOWN, NJ 3.7.21
ArtYard is a nonprofit community art, performance, and education center established in 2016 in bustling Frenchtown, NJ, formed by couples Jill Kearney and Stephen McDonell. Make no mistake, ArtYard is Kearney's baby. McDonell ran the famous and large Applegate Farms organic food brand for many years until selling the company and farm to Hormel. Kearney then opened ArtYard to critical success. ArtYard was shut down however because of the pandemic. The opening of the new larger location is tentative because no one in New Jersey and the rest of the U.S. knows when the vaccines will be distributed to the masses.
12 Bridge street, public installation by Pulitzer Prize-winner Jericho Brown and Aracelis Girmay
In the meantime things have been quite busy regardless with virtual and outdoor exhibits. The ArtYard team acquired a second building for an art and poetry library. On the main shopping street in Frenchtown, at 12 Bridge street, an engaging public installation by Pulitzer Prize-winner Jericho Brown and Aracelis Girmay graces the new location. Everyone in Frenchtown and the surrounding area are clamoring for more and are eagerly awaiting the new 20,000-square location opening.
