THE RESURGENCE OF POP ART
BY ArtCoWo Press ©  9 - 17 - 15

Pop Art is making a come back in fun and exciting areas around the world. In less than conservative areas of the art world, it's back, and maybe here to stay. Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami and New York have re-embraced it again and again. The people against pop art are the same people who fought against it in Warhol's time.

The traditionalists who believe you have to follow every technique in the handbook to consider something art. Art styles are as divisive as anything in the world these days from the artists to the art galleries. Not accepting Pop Art killed some galleries in the 60's not willing to embrace it's minimalism. Today I believe anything goes, and good art is good art no matter what. There are the top producers in any field.

Such as, "The King of Pop Art," De La Nuez, who is marketed to everyone from children to adults. I feel the work is well made but I have seen better examples of this type of pop art that really speaks to the audience.

Artists such as Shawn King, who puts a spin on the American Flag, which can be hung anywhere, from a penthouse, to the White House. His works blends pop art and abstract expressionism as well as street art. He in fact has graffiti roots in Los Angeles. I love his work because of the social-political overtones as well as the purely pop art feel.
